Sandra Downes, M.D., M.P.H.
, originally of Caribbean heritage, moved to Boston to pursue her educational goals. After obtaining her undergraduate education, Dr. Downes taught Biology to high school students. She later became involved in basic science research at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she assisted in many research publications and co-authored her first scientific article. In 1990, Dr. Downes began her long association with the Harvard Medical School network, culminating in medical sub-specialty training in Allergy and Immunology. In addition to her educational career, Dr. Downes was involved in many community projects and health-related activities, including serving on the Admissions Committee of both Harvard Medical School and the Children's Hospital Intern Selection Program in Boston. Since moving to Tampa in 2000, Dr. Downes has continued to serve the community of Tampa Bay in the field of Allergy, through her ongoing involvement with local community organizations and programs and providing care to her patients at Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Associates.
